Wrap
Inspired by the craft and care of Japanese gardening, particularly komomaki (tree wraps to protect from the winter) and kokedama (growing plants within a moss ball). I created a series of three scarves. To wrap and protect the wearer.
Design 1 - Monica
I created areas of varying tension and density using floats. The mohair in this design strengthened the fabric when washed and brushed out with a dried, natural teasel, creating felted bands across the weft.

Design 2 - Mia
To make a feature of the deadstock synthetic bouclé in this design, I created bands of an open twill structure and warp floats. Between these stripes, pure cotton was used to give the fabric structure.

Design 3 - Luiza
To replicate the organic petal forms seen in the orchid room, I opted for a heavily compacted coral twill structure, surrounded by bouclé weft threads to create a roundness.
